Melissa Ausmus is a Dental Hygienist serving patients throughout Northeast Missouri. A Lewis County native, Melissa is proud to care for the communities she knows and loves and is grateful for the opportunity to give back to the area that helped shape who she is.
Melissa began her dental career at the age of 18 as a dental assistant in Quincy, Illinois. That early experience sparked her interest in dentistry and led her to pursue a career in dental hygiene. She graduated from Missouri College in Brentwood, Missouri, in 2013 with an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene and later continued her education, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Oral Health Promotion.
For 10 years, Melissa served as an Adjunct Instructor at the Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health (MOSDOH), where she enjoyed teaching and mentoring future dental professionals. Her experience as an educator strengthened her appreciation for lifelong learning, patient education, and compassionate care. She believes oral health plays an important role in overall health and enjoys helping patients better understand their oral health in a way that feels personal, practical, and attainable.
Since 2019, Melissa has been proud to serve at Northeast Missouri Health Council, where she continues to do what she loves—caring for others and helping provide quality oral healthcare to communities throughout Northeast Missouri. She values the opportunity to serve individuals and families who may face barriers to accessing care and is grateful to be part of an organization committed to improving the health and well-being of the community.
Melissa is passionate about building genuine relationships with her patients and providing care that helps them feel informed and supported. She feels fortunate to have a career that allows her to care for others, continue learning, and serve the community she calls home.
Outside of dentistry, family is the most important part of Melissa's life. She married her husband, Tyson, in 2014, and together they have three children—two boys and one girl. Her husband farms, and with all three children involved in sports, their family stays busy with farm life, practices, games, and spending time together.
