Diabetes Prevention Program starting Nov. 30

Northeast Missouri Health Council’s next Diabetes Prevention Program will be starting Monday, Nov. 30. All classes will be conducted via Zoom to make it a safe experience for all.

The Diabetes Prevention Program is a year-long program that focuses on preventing type 2 diabetes, or treating prediabetes, through encouraging weight loss, increasing physical activity, and developing tools to get of,f and stay off, of the dieting bandwagon.

NMHC’s program is the only program in the state of Missouri to receive full recognition from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which means the program has met and exceeded the standards as laid out by the CDC.

The program has served dozens of individuals in making changes that lead to a healthier lifestyle.

“I joined the DPP group because I have a family history of Diabetes and I am overweight,” said one of the current participants. “I love the program being a year long because I need the accountability. I have learned a lot about staying on track, pushing myself to eat healthier, and being more active. I have lost weight and I’m so thankful for the DPP group; they encourage you every step of the way!”
